About Recipes For Everyone

I created Recipes For Everyone as a tribute to my mom, Lain, the heart and soul behind everything I know about cooking. This website is more than a collection of recipes. It is a love letter to the woman who taught me that food is one of the purest ways to care for others. Every dish I share carries a piece of her wisdom, her strength, and her unwavering love for our family. I dedicate this space to her because without her, none of this would exist.
My mom is an incredible chef. She has a natural gift in the kitchen, turning simple ingredients into meals that bring comfort and joy. Growing up, I stood beside her, watching her cook with patience and creativity. She taught me how to balance flavors, how to cook with heart, and most importantly, how to feed people with love. The lessons she gave me were not just about food but about generosity, resilience, and pride in our culture.
We grew up poor in a small house with eight people under one roof. Even though life was not easy and she barely spoke English, my mom worked tirelessly in factories to provide for us. No matter how early her shift started, she would wake up before sunrise to cook breakfast so we would never leave the house hungry. After long hours of hard labor, she would come home and still find the strength to prepare dinner for the entire family. She never complained. She simply did what needed to be done because that is who she is.
My mom is from Cambodia, a country with a deep and powerful history. She lived through the horrors of the Khmer Rouge and the devastation of the Cambodian Civil War. During the war, while she was working in a factory, soldiers entered her village. She left immediately with her coworker to check on her babysitter and her baby daughter. When she arrived home, they were gone. To this day, she still wonders if her daughter is alive. She carries that pain quietly, yet she continues to live with strength and grace.
Despite everything she endured, my mom never let hardship define her spirit. Instead, she chose love. She chose family. She chose to cook. Food became her way of healing and connecting. She loves teaching others how to cook, sharing recipes, and passing down traditions from Cambodia. Through her, I learned that cooking is not just about survival but about preserving stories, culture, and hope.
Recipes For Everyone exists because of her sacrifices and her passion. Every recipe on this site is inspired by the meals she made for us and the resilience she showed every single day. I love my mom more than words can express. She is not only a great chef but a great mother, a survivor, and my greatest inspiration. This website is my way of honoring her strength and sharing her love with the world. 🍲❤️
